Distribution of CoralHue (TM) Fluorescent Protein Resources
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

With the generosity of Medical & Biological Laboratories Co., Ltd. (MBL), 88 items of CoralHue (TM) fluorescent protein resources were deposited to RIKEN BioResource Research Center (RIKEN BRC). On September 28, 2020, we started distributing these resources as they were ready to be shipped. For details of each resource, please refer the home page (https://brc.riken.jp/dna/GRP0067e). These resources will be distributed to not-for-profit academic research conducted by universities and national/public research institutions at normal fees without license fee to MBL. In addition, we will distribute these resources to commercial entities and to for-profit-use at non-profit organizations after these users obtain an approval from MBL in advance.

These resources include large numbers of functional fluorescent protein resources developed by Dr. Atsushi Miyawaki Laboratory, RIKEN Center for Brain Science, such as fluorescent proteins with various wavelength characteristics, photoconversion type that changes color by light irradiation, and photochromism type that can control light emission and extinction and can be used for super-resolution imaging. There are also a series of resources that can visualize various subcellular locations and organelles.

We are looking forward to receiving many requests for these resources
from you.

– Characteristics of fluorescent proteins
Kusabira-Cyan:
Emitting bright cyan light. There is less overlap of fluorescence
spectra on yellow than ECFP.

Midoriisi-Cyan:
Emitting cyan light. There is less overlap of fluorescence spectra
on yellow than ECFP

Umikinoko-Green:
Emitting brilliant green light. It has high pH stability.

Azami-Green:
Emitting green light.

Kusabira-Orange:
Emitting orange light. It has pH stability. Its sharp fluorescence
spectrum enables multicolor fluorescence imaging with red fluorescent
proteins which are difficult to use other orange fluorescent protein.

Keima570 and Keima-Red:
Emitting orange light (maximum fluorescence 570 nm, Keima570) and red
light (maximum fluorescence 620 nm, Keima-Red), respectively. Both
have large Stokes shift. They are suitable for multicolor
fluorescence imaging, because they are hardly affected by other
colors. It is also suitable for multi-wavelength measurement by
single-wavelength excitation by a laser source.

Dronpa Green:
Emiting green light and can be turned fluorescence on and off. It can
be bleached by strong irradiation at about 500 nm. Bleached Dronpa
Green can be restored by irradiation at about 400 nm. It is suitable
for super-resolution microscope observation by Photoactivated
localization microscopy (PALM) method.

Kaede:
Emiting green light and can be changed irreversibly its fluorescence
to red by irradiation with UV or violet (360 nm-410 nm).

Kikume Green-Red:
Emiting green light and can be changed irreversibly its fluorescence
to red by irradiation with UV or violet (360 nm-410 nm). Shows higher
photoconversion efficiency than Kaede.
