Notice for users of the FFH-tagged S. pombe ORFeome clone set
We, the RIKEN BioResource Center, regret to inform you that three clones, SpFFH01A01 (SPBC1711.15c gene), SpFFH28D02 (thi1 gene) and SpFFH04B05 (sub1 gene), in the FFH-tagged S. pombe ORFeome clone set are needed to be replaced with correct clones.
The Entry, FFH-tagged and YFH-tagged, S. pombe clone sets containing 4,812 clones each were deposited by a Japanese researcher in 2006. The depositor analyzed nucleotide sequences of all clones of the sets and published the results. We made copies in the conditions specified by the depositor and distributed these sets and individual clone of the sets to our users. As the quality test, we analyzed terminal end sequences of a portion of clones randomly picked from the sets. For individually requested clones, we have confirmed the authenticity by terminal end sequencing before shipment.
In our recent quality test, the three FFH-tagged clones mentioned above yielded unexpected DNA sizes in agarose gel electrophoresis. Therefore, we re-constructed the correct clones from the corresponding clones in the Entry clone set after confirming the sizes and nucleotide sequences of both termini of each Entry clones. The authenticity of three FFH-tagged clones was confirmed by electrophoresis and sequencing. They are now ready to be shipped.
It is almost impossible for us to test every clone in large clone sets such as this set before shipment. Nevertheless, we will keep doing our best to improve the quality of our resources to contribute to the integrity of life science research. We ask you for your understanding and continuous support.
We have sent notes to the past users, expressing our sincere apology and explaining this matter.
